Interactions:

Dinoprostone

  • Adverse Effect: an increased risk of oxytocic toxicity (uterine hyperstimulation)  
  • Clinical Management: The concurrent use of dinoprostone with ergonovine is contraindicated. A dosing interval of at least 30 minutes is recommended for the sequential use of oxytocic drugs following the removal of the dinoprostone vaginal insert.

    Dopamine

  • Adverse Effect: gangrene of the extremities  
  • Clinical Management: Avoid the concurrent use of dopamine and ergonovine. If coadministration is necessary, monitor for evidence of excessive vasoconstriction (cold, pale skin, pain), especially in the extremities.
